[ bblogo ] baconbuttie info

Shem makes an appearance at last !

Shem arrived at 17:56 on 27 August 2003, weighed 7lb 14oz, and was a water baby. Everyone is doing great, and I have to say a big thank you to all the well-wishers from eBay Community and beyond.
baconbuttie reinstated After a "gruelling" 90+days I've just had notification of the lifting of my suspension. So I guess that means no more Pink Slaps for merely saying 'baconbuttie' on the eBay boards for you lot !! I got 90 days for revealing a security hole that I found in eBay code.

As well as showing scrummy piccies of my little boys, this page also demonstrates how you can have scrummy extras on your auction listings (or 'me' page) without paying extra. Right-click, look at the source and copy to your hearts content !

If you do use any scripts you find here, I would appreciate you putting a note in your page to say as much ... cheers

The source code for the image swap scripts below can also be found here

Want an eBay Template ? Try this one .. simply open this txt file (it's safe !) and copy and paste it into your auction description ... remembering to change the words..
And why not look at the source for the Countdown Timer used at the top of the page ? Copy and paste it into your descriptions so everyone can see exactly how long it is until they miss your bargain :o)
WatchScript v2.3 out now The latest version of the WatchScript does not affect eBay content at all. Get your copy here. Have fun !
Make sure you copy the entire script into your description.
eBay Shop List. A user-requested addition to the BaconButtie portfolio (thanks Alex) is a script used with a list to send viewers of your 'Me' page to various depts of your eBay shop. Obviously this is only for those of you who have an eBay shop !
<script language="javascript">
function SwapForm(newaction) {
document.myshopform.action = newaction;
<form name="myshopform" action="http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/path_to_first_page">
<table width="80%" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" name="myshoptable" border="0">
<tr><td align="center"><b>Select which department you want to visit</b></td></tr>
<tr><td align="center">
<select size="1" name="myselect" onChange="javascript: SwapForm(this.options[selectedIndex].value);">
<option value="http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/path_to_page_1" selected>Department 1</option>
<option value="http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/path_to_page_2">Department 2</option>
<!-- .... repeat as required ...... -->
<option value="http://www.stores.ebay.co.uk/path_to_page_3" >Department 3</option>
<tr><td align="center"><input type="submit" name="btnSubmit" value="Go !"></td></tr>
This gives the following functionality :
Select which page you want to visit
If you want to use this in conjunction with any script that interacts with forms please contact me for assistance.
I've been asked a few times recently about the Countdown Timer script, the one on this page requires you to load the script in your listing, then once you have the auction end time, you can supply this parameter and start the script. I updated it for auction listings to detect the actual end time automatically, and you can find this modified script on eDaves UKAuctionHelp page ... link below.
Now we come to Popup Windows. Love 'em or loathe 'em, they can be useful, but eBay don't let you access the window object do they ? So why not use the javascript function they put in every page to create popups ?
Popup Demo
To use this function, I used the following code :
<a href="javascript: void(0);" onClick="javascript: popWindow('http://www.ebay.co.uk/', 'Ha_Ha_Ha', 'toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=no,copyhistory=n', 400, 400);">Popup Demo</a>
Change the URL and window sizes/parameters to suit you.
Lastly ... if you want any eBay specific script written, ones that can add useful functionality to the site, why not drop me a mail ... click here
P.S. Thanks to the short-sighted killjoy who reported my eBay 'Me' page. Are you happy now ?
